This is large power vacuum that could become the rise of new terrible pet alliances, or maybe the space for new competent alliances to grow. |

I wrote this a while back and wasn't going to release it but I will now. It's Tri's life as I seen it (up to when we took cloud Ring off You What, I don't have much aspiration to write any more after that so this is probably all that It will be. It's long enough as it is though). It might come off as jumpy and bits may be missing but it's just as I remember/saw it.
IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE RISE OF TRI THEN DON'T READ
This is my story of events which my alliance has gotten where they are today. I will try recap the up's and downs of the alliance since before it was formed. YNC and Exanimo was basicly two wings of the same corp (kind of), Cpt blood is a former YNC member and he made Exanimo after both he and YNC had a pretty boring time in Tribal Souls alliance in Paragon Soul. We were pretty sour to alliances after it. YNC ceo boo3916 at one point said we would never join another alliance as long as he is in charge of YNC. When we moved back north we would bump into D00M a lot. After a few skirmishes with each other we sorted standings to work together in and around the EC-P8R area as we had the same goal. To reign havoc upon the entire north who were all blue with each other. Over time this frienship became stronger and stronger, however a corp blue to YNC for a long time Insane Decision seemed to become insanely bitter twards D00M and YNC's friendship and did their best to split us up. This of course strengthened our resolve and after accusing D00M of stealing loot on a joint op ID eventually started killing D00M members. This was ok, we would keep both parties blue and fly with them both when ever we can, however, ID became more bitter that we did not tell D00M to piss off, also because we would not hold their hand all the time and issued YNC with an "us or them" ultimatum, D00M never put pressure on us to break any friendships and it was easy to see who was the true friends. ID was set to Neutral and became fair game, D00M, YNC and Exan's resolve became stronger and stronger.
Then YNC was hit with corp theft by former D00M member Mosaic Artefact. He ran away with around 150m and an Ishtar, whilst it didn't seem like much it was personal assets from people who shared with him and had their good nature taken advantage of. Mosaic joined back to D00M and the friendship seemed to be over, most of the D00M. members joined KIA and we were actively engaing them. However it never lasted long and Darknesss reopened D00M and with that reopened the friendship we had been forming. Many alliances are formed over rash decisions, however the three starting members of Tri (D00M, YNC and Exan) were flying together long before the alliance was formed. We had overcome adversity to get where we were, it made our resolve stronger and and binded us closer together. This is something which stands us apart from many alliances.
We were loners, our friends were our alliance mates, we needed help we wouldn't call on IRON/G like the many alliances binded in that blue haven, we would call on our alliance. This helped us to get even closer and combat effective, another thing was we were under the radar, no one had respect for us, we were seen as just a pirate alliance who only does ganks. Whilst we knew this wasn't the case, many people underestimated us and they got punished for it. Only when some of the entities got punished for their underestimation that we started to get noticed, for an example when "ISS tried to simply remove a single medium pos from EC-P8R" what we used as a staging/regrouping point. They came heavy with a fleet twice the size of any gang we could produce and a number of dreads. We managed to kill most of their large gang and destroyed 4-5 dreadnaughts, baring in mind this was back when losing a dread was a big deal. The pos was saved and lasted months longer, when a very large IRON and friends fleet eventually managed to destroy it, but not without a fight.
We were getting noticed more and more and we decided to make an attack upon Forces of Freedom alliance. The key battle was in MI60-6, we dropped a pos and reinforced their pos' with our 60 man gang. Soon after we were greeted with 175 man gang coming to defend FOF's pos'. We engaged them and held our own for a long time, we killed more than we lost which was pretty good going considering their fleet was 2+ times the size of ours. Our small pos was destroyed, however we destroyed 2 large and 1 medium pos and FOF dropped sov in the system. This was no attack to claim sovereignty though, this was merely for fun, we wanted to stir up the hornets nest and we did. After that, people really started opening their eyes. We showed that we can do more than just camp gates and gank. We showed starategy, skill and more than anything, balls. This led to people wanting a piece of this action. Not long after that siege on MI60-6 xxxAngelxxx (who was in the fleet we fought) had joined us and she is probably the best fleet commander I have ever flown with. She settled in and then helped us move on forward. This further helped attract the very best pvper's and in turn joined some of the best fleet commanders you could possibly hope for.
We attracted our members through adverts of extreme pvp only, there was no incentives of "safe 0.0 access" or anything else the likes of Razor/FLA/IRON/G could offer. Everyone who joined did so for pvp because there was no other incentive. This of course led to money problems, I remember most of the time in YNC the corp wallet was at about 100-200m and very few people's personal wallets were even that high. However the assets we had we made good use of. The more we broke into 0.0 the more isk everyone was getting and the release of capitals was a big moment for us. It was where I feel we capitalised on (no pun intended), We realised that capitals are very good assets to have and most people worked towards getting them. After a few months we was one of the smallest active alliances in game with one of the biggest active capital fleets in game. We lacked numbers so for what we lacked with numbers we tried to make up with power. We started off able to field one carrier in battles, then 2, 3,4 then all of a sudden we are fielding 10+ capitals and they made up a quarter of our gangs. I think MC was the only other small alliance that had gone the same route as us with regards to seeing the importance of capitals in the game and the important role they can possess, especially for smaller alliances like ourselves.
After a lot of skirmishes and many months of empire wars with Forces of Freedom and friends (of course who can forget the infoumaous "Lollipop Incident"), their activity was pretty much dead with 1 or 2 memebers hanging around only. This meant a change of focus was needed and a new alliance was needed to be "picked on" sort of speak, the new target was Freelancer Alliance (FLA).
They were very worthy foe's, they were absoloutely no competition for us in terms of pvp prowess, however they were resiliant and wouldn't back down, they would always come back for more and that made for an enjoyable battle. However, if we ever did anything of threat to FLA sovereignty we knew we would be welcomed by pretty much all the north, so every now and again we would poke their pos. It would always lead to 10+ alliances and 150+ members coming to fight us, despite our activity maxing out at about 50-60 at very best. The battles came to a peak towards the end of 2006 when we decided to attack their station system with our 45 man gang. We assembled a strong gang, mostly of battleships with few support, along with that we brought 10 carriers. We started attacking their pos and as usual a large fleet came to greet us. We had low expectations with regards to actually taking the station. We placed a pos for capital formation spot and then proceeded to attack their pos, every now and again the large enemy gang would come to attack us, however our abillity to hit at longer ranges than them gave us the advantage and we completely tore their gang to shreads. When they died they would insantly jump into another ship. There was no way we could do it, we knew this so decided to make the most of it and kept attacking their fleets. It was a very fun time and we was showing people that quality is greater than quantity. Whilst we failed in taking the station I think we succeeded in securing the respect from some of the north, notably IRON, who we had thought with daily since before the existance of the alliance. Meanwhile we welcomed the first corporation into the alliance that wasn't a part of the three, the corp was Omen, lead by the enigmatic Elliot Manchild.
Not long after, BoB started moving up north and sending fleets in. Despite us still being remarkably small we would spend every minute of the day in our gang hunting down theirs looking for a fight. We saw BoB as a nice target, however after a few battles and mexican standoffs they started out numbering us quite a lot so we made decision to become blue with the north. Whilst we do fight the north a lot, we admired and respected them. We were willing to defend their space only for us to keep continuing the excellent fights we would have. Little happened with regards to fights with BoB, mostly a clash of whits and mexican standoff's. It was the first time we was able to go face to face with the most feared alliance in game though and say "we are not afraid". It was quite liberating, however we would all have liked to have gotten more of a fight off them. They didn't respect us at all in public however there must have been some inside respect for us there because they were not very willing to go head to head with us.
Anyway, not much happened there apart from the north being blue. However FLA broke the standings with us by shooting us whilst we was blue. Apparently flying through their space was not allowed. We was there helping them fight off BoB but we had to do so without entering their space. It was a silly situation to put themselves in because now the north was blue with us and they were not standing in the way of us killing FLA. In fact some of the IRON leaders were in talks with us to take FLA space and remain blue with IRON. Nothing ever became of it, however many in IRON were showing more respect to us, their swarn enemy since ever, over their friends.
Not long after BoB had left to go back south and there was talks of the north preparing to attack the south in a big war. We were invited along and we accepted it, thinking it's better to be a part of something big than to be stuck in the middle being a nobody. In this time after long hard talks a decision was made by boo3916 and Darknesss that the two corps would merge to one as boo3916 was becoming tired of the leadership role and trusted Dark to help keep the spirit and traditions of YNC alive within D00M corp.
When we made the move down south we were based in Querios along with RZR, IRON, Pure and some other smaller entities. Things started well, Fix was no match and a station was quickly captured however BoB then came with their titans and it made things difficult. What was more difficult was that it was multiple alliances and communications between them was pretty bad. Things started going bad and we started losing trust in other alliances fleet commanders when big mistakes were being made. We were in unfamiliar territory. We was part of a big gang and not part of a small well coordinated gang. It was also fairly depressing to see a alliance of no more than 150 members (about 60 active) bringing not only most of the gangs but also most of the capital fleets. However, we was one of the few alliances who from the start saw the importance of cap ships so we were the only ones prepared in such a way. One op I remember there was 15 caps 11 of which were Tri. Whilst individually we respected their abillities, together they were a mess, it was not a great situation to be in. It was the first time we was inundated with blues and the list of blues increased daily. It gave us all a flavour of the downside to being a part of the coalition. It wasn't enjoyable for the most part. We missed roaming around killing anything in sight, we was showing our inexperience with regards to working with others. We spent our all time alone up until now and it was very hard to try and get our heads around. Most of their fc's were rather inexperienced, almost all fc's were not climitised to the type of battles we were facing down here.
When we moved back up north we decided to stop basing out of Torrinos/Tamo and to move into Venal the 0.0 npc region. It was marked down on sovereignty map as D2 territory so as a publicity stunt we made claim to venal and the control was changed from D2 to Triumvirate. D2 did not take this lightly and started to attack us in spells, meanwhile we welcomed 2 further corps into the alliance. Coracao Ardente and Viper Squad were the latest aquisitions. The expansion of Triumvirate to move onto bigger and better things had began. Shortly after MDK was invited into the alliance and now we had numbers for the first time. Not just numbers, but a lot of high quality pvper's. We was now able to compete with extreme numbers and fair well. Apart form removing kith of venal pos' which we was able to do with little resistance we were roaming all through the north killing anything we could find. Finally we was given a chance to show our cap fleet when Blind Beavers contacted us and alerted us of Hydra/The Makhai capital gang attacking BB pos in P3EN-E. We prepared the caps and moved a fleet nearby however their fleet tried to avoid us so we just cyno'd in the caps and started attacking their caps that were attacking the pos. We jumped in 26 capitals and raped all the caps they had attacking the pos. A total of six dreadnaughts was destroyed along with three carriers. This was the first time people got to see how much we had grown in the 2 months we had left the south. From having 11 caps to having 26 caps in a gang.
Eventually the Northern Coalition cut their losses down south and came home having failed in their efforts to remove BoB. Many may have felt that we let them down by leaving and with us now living in Venal pretty much next door to all the major players in the north we was about to get a lot of action. We had recieved blue standings with the alliance Terror In The System. They were allowed to live in Venal and with them living there the area was cramped. They had plans though and it involved taking Tenal from Razor. We had decided to support them in their attempt to claim Tenal and it coincided with MC's attacks upon the north. For some reason we was being banded as BoB pets, people who have known us our all existance calling us pet's when they know that's not how we roll. From most people you can accept it, when it came from the people who you have been fighting along side to help remove BoB it becomes not hurtful but annoying. Before the joining of the coalition we fought the north and poked their sovereignty looking for holes etc. However now we was doing it the same time as MC was up north and we was automatically "pets".
Things became worse on that front when Terror In The System called upon MC to help them with the assault on Tenal. We was already blue with MC because of our long term friend You What was working with them. However we was not going to be banded in with that group and as soon as MC started help Terror In The System we was obviously no longer needed so we reset standings with T.I.T.S and became friends with Phallanx Alliance who we had fiercly been fighting since we moved into Venal. It was a change for the better, T.I.T.S were awful, they were not very good at pvp, they lacked any coordination and they were mouthy gits. Phallanx were small efficient fighting force much like ourselves, our friendship was formed over respect for each other on the battlefield. In this time we had welcomed in another 2 corps in the name of Naughty 40 and Rionnag Alba. We made a new friend in Praesidium Libertatis after a multi alliance attack upon them led by OXIDE was thwarted with the help of ourselves.
June 2007 came and D2 was now trying hard to remove us from Venal, basing a lot of their members there and camping stations with carriers/motherships. We would hold our ground, we would defend our pos against them resiliently and were sending out a message that we are going no where. Fighting between us was pretty strong a a battle of camping eachother in station would wage on for weeks. One routine Tri roaming op turned out to be a cap smash when Razor and D2 not once but twice jumped the same Tri gang with seven caps. Third time they tried it was a trap of our own, when they cyno'd in their caps we cyno'd in ours, only we didn't have seven we had twenty one. There was a bit of heat for it on caod, but when they were jumping seven caps onto our small roaming gang overkill wasn't an issue then. We dealt with their caps in the same severity that they tried to deal to our small gang. In the end Razor lost 4 carriers and D2 lost 1 Carrier and 2 dreadnaughts, most of thir support gang was also taken out. It was the first show of our capital power when called upon in short notice.
We were now making waves, people all around eve knew who we were. We had become one of the top pvp alliances in eve, it was something we never expected in our wildest dreams. I remember Darknesss saying something along the lines of "everything we achieve now is more than what we ever planned on doing". We was living in a fairytale. How did a small pirate alliance become a force to be reckoned with?
Fighting at this point with Razor and Morsus Mihi had cooled off due to MC now deep into Tenal. However fighting doesn't stop for us and it continued with Pandemic Legion moving into Venal. The last time any of us locked horns was when Sniggerdly had war decced YNC long before Tri and it was one hell of a war. It was no different now, it was 2 very similar style alliances face to face blasting eachother into oblivion. They are a very skilled alliance and proved to be a menace to us. However they were supplying pvp and that's all that you could ask for.
After a while we believe we could take and hold space alone. We had uptil now done everything the hard way though so we continued in the tradition and made a move for Deklein. It was recently steamrolled by MC and inhabbited by Vigilance Infinitas, Aftermath, Sparta, Storm Armada and Fallen Souls. Whilst they were never going to be at our level with regards to pvp abillity they had many alliances and should have been able to cover all timezones. Their biggest contributor to their downfall was Aftermath's massive underestimation of our economical abillities. They thought they would have enough isk to out stay us in the area. What they didn't account for was ships cost money and whilst at the time they were probably richer as an alliance, all our members were now insanely rich thanks to months in Venal and was able to recoup any loss taken insantly. As we never took anywhere near as many losses to what we was giving it made it hard for the alliances to function. Vigilance Infinitas felt the full force and due to a lack of support from it's allies in the area they quickly surrendered giving us our first clear chance to grab a stations. Aftermath tried to stop it happening but they failed to do so and that gave us our first staging point in the region. Fallen Souls tried to fill the void of Vigilance Infinitas, unfortunately for them they face us in a few key fleet battles in quick succession and was steam rolled in each and every one of them. The morale was clearly dropping for all the alliances. Stations started to fall and alliances started to surrender. Even though warnings of our previous conflicts in the north should have been warning to these guys, not to underestimate us. We have been underestimate a lot in our time and this time was no different. We was not any old average joe alliance. We had purposely came to the forefront through sheer hard work. Evereything we achieved is through the hard way.
Aftermath surrendered and we gained control of the stations they owned then soon after we recieved word that a Sparta pos was building a Nyx class mothership. Well we wasn't going to sit there and let it happen so we sieged the pos and put it into reinforced. When it came out of reinforced we readied the gang and moved to the system. However Sparta pulled all the stops to defend it and called in Fatal Alliance to support them along with their normal partners in crime, Fallen Souls and Storm Armada. Well there was too many there for us to take alone, luckily Razor and MM gang had come along to ensure if we failed they would succeed. After quick discussion a temp nap was made in order to take out this mothership in what would be a mutual gain. The fighting ensued as you would expect with other 400 in local and Sparta gang was torn apart and then instead of taking out the cyno jammer and jumping in caps we decided to just take the pos down with battleships. Sparta lost 5 carriers in the battle at the pos and eventually gave up all hope of defending it let the inevitable play out. Soon after Sparta and Storm Armada surrendered and we gained control of all of Deklein.
It was quite surreal, in 4 months we had gone from 150 man alliance into a medium/large alliance holding a region for our own. Something we never imagined would ahve happened especially with the random threats fromt he north that if we was ever to claim space they would take it off us. The shake up in the north thanks to MC has led to a better north though and Razor/MM came an agreement with us not to take each others sovereignty. Respect for each others abillity and the fear of what the place would be like without each other was probably a major factor in the agreement.
When Fallen Souls disbanded many of them joined our friends You What. Bare in mind You What in the year+ we were blue never done anything to help us and we never did anything to help them. As far as we were concerned they were a waste of a standing. Especially taking in the remnants of scum we had just worked hard to kick out of the area. We also stayed out of Cloud Ring and Fade to respect their wishes not to kill their friends in their space. Enough was enough, the standing was a waste. Our standings generally bare mutual benifits. We saw no benifit of them being blue to us. However they remained safe from us as long as they were blue so after a lot of talking the decision was made to reset the standing. Many battles occured and You what was losing capitals on almost a daily basis and after a while we decided to make a move on Fade.
The attack on Fade was suprisingly easy and we took control of it in record time. However next up was Cloud Ring where they nestled into whilst we took Fade, we expected more resistance. We got it, not in form of a gang but in form of a faction pos. We took hundreds of losses to the pos when merely trying to take down the cyno jammer. Our inexperience in this department was showing and after several attempts we were still no closer to cracking it. We were starting to think that it was not possible to achieve alone and you What looked likely to succeed in defending the area. Afterall if XZH falls then the rest will fall in double wuick record time and we knew that. So we kept working and kept trying new idea's to take it out., at this point You What's pos was so far ahead of any You What member on their killboard it was blatently obvious that we have bumped into one of the most overpowered objects in game. In one attempt we lost 69 battleships to the pos. Whilst we did manage to kill 34 of their battleships and 1 carrier it was clearly going to need more firepower. So after a few weeks break we rehit the pos in what was the first op that was planned in advance so more people could show up. We managed to get a gang of around 200+ people around 160 of which were in battleships. We were now ready for the first time to put serious effort into taking down the cyno jammer. Frege showed up with a small gang as we was giving the region to them if we conquered it. They took down the station services whilst we proceeded to take down the cyno jammer. This time it was a lot easier. The carriers that moved out of the pos shields were webbed by our support and blasted by our battleships until there was nothing You What could do but watch their grip on the region fall.
The cyno jammer was incapacitated and many Tri members started flying back to Deklein to pick up their capital ships. About an hour or two later and a cyno field was dropped and in entered 60+ Tri caps. This was the icing on the cake as far as You What was concerned. The only way they could survive was to stop out cap fleet getting in. They did well for a while but the moment the cyno field was opened they knew it was the end. We were rutheless in the way we took the system as we kept a 24/7 presence in the system until You What eventually surrendered to us. |

cant say a good chunk of us didnt see this coming. But o7 Tri...Used to fear 'em when I flew in Hydra. Enjoyed flying alongside 'em for a good couple months. Some good PvPers there, shame to see it die, regardless the reason. The good ones will, undoubtedly, move on to better things.
It had to end sometime, somehow...just didnt think It'd be sooo soon, or this way. o7 Tri. |

Much respect to Tri, I think they have been one of the few opponents that I have fought, either as a member of The Rock, or IRON, that didn't use shady game mechanics at every opportunity. Tri will be missed, esp by the nub part of me that used to nija mine crokite in EC-Pbr. _________________

much respect to TRI members present and past, especially aadom and War God. I remember back in fade in my first few baby steps into 0.0 and trying to catch wargod in his super duper nanophoon that warped like a goddamn inty you were a constant thorn in everyone up north's side.
Its not going to be the same up there without you.
btw can we have Skularika/sokata back now? _________________
